Yesterday

Yesterday I had my first prenatal appointment. They just did a bunch of tests and told me that my due date is October 30, 2011. (I already knew this) I made an appointment with my regular obgyn for a followup and an ultrasound for April 11.

While I was at my appointment my parents were watching Jackson. It was my mom's birthday, and my brother and I planned the whole day out. We got her flowers and took her to the Olive Garden. Trevor got off work just in time and joined us. After the Olive Garden we had another surprise! We took her to the History Museum in St. Paul. They had to George Washington exhibit going on. Mom had fun looking at everything because she has been to most of the places. (Washington D.C. & Mount Vernon) We spent the rest of the afternoon there, up until the place closed. Jackson had a blast looking at all the stuff and people too. He took a ride in one of the bus exhibits and a wagon in one of the rooms. Grandpa even taught him how to drink out of a water fountain!

Today I am very tired. I feel like I could go to sleep for the rest of the day. I cannot wait until I am in my 2nd trimester!! :D I made Jackson and I lunch, and now I'm going to finish washing diapers and getting ready for work!

Here are some pictures from yesterday:

Daddy and Jackson! We had so much fun yesterday! It was a great family fun day.

How we wash our cloth diapers 'round these parts....

They start out here:
When He gets wet or poos we take it off and throw it in a bucket we keep in the bathroom.(If there is poo we spray it off into the toliet and flush) They sit there for about a day and a half. When the bucket is full, we fill up the bathtub. Once cold, swish swish, wash wash, and wrung out. Then we drain the bathtub, add hot water and our special soap. Let soak for 15 minutes, wash and swish. Wring out the diapers and drain the tub. Then comes the last cold rinse to get all the soap out! Then we wring and hang up to dry!
Here are some pics:

(prefolds soaking)

(Scrubbing and wringing)

(Draining bathtub for final rinse)

(Water proof covers drying!)

(prefolds drying in the bathroom)

We sanitize the bathtub every time we wash diapers and before each bath.
Thanks for reading!!
Jackson wants to wave goodbye! :

(super comfy in his soft cloth diaper!)

Diaper washing can also be done easier in the washer. Hand washing just takes a little more time. It is easy peasy! Anyone can do it! Plus they are super cute and good for our environment! :D
Change 3 Things: 3 cloth diapers. One planet. Big impact.

Good Morning!

It's daylight savings so we lost an hour, but we all slept in! Trevor's making us eggs and bacon, I'm washing diapers and Jackson is playing with his toys in the living room. I have to go to work later, but I love weekend mornings before work. Trevor is always here, and the mornings are somewhat lazy.

Time for a late breakfast! :)

Being a mommy was what I was always meant to be.

My mom got me this book when I started kindergarten. It had 12 pages with pockets for each year of school. She would put my school picture on the page and I would write things about me that year. Inside would be my report cards and special keepsakes from the year. One of the questions that stayed the same through all the years was: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" My answer was always different. Vet, Artist, manager, and grocery store clerk are some of the ones I remember. All throughout high school and after I couldn't decide what I wanted to be. I went from flight attendant to graphic design to vet tech. I'm thinking that God always knew that I would be a mommy, even though I didn't think I ever would be.
Being a mommy is the most rewarding and amazing experience I think there is. I wouldn't trade it for the world!

The cat is slowly coming out of the bag....

Today was a busy day. Went to my parents with Trevor and Jackson and told them that we are going to have another baby!! That's right! I am due October 30th 2011. We couldn't be happier! Mom was a little upset at first but by the end of the day she hugged me and pulled out the family tree to look at baby names. She predicts that I will be having a boy.
We made mom and dad dinner (sour cream chicken, baked potatoes and green beans).
I said goodbye to Kit. He will be put to sleep after my brother's spring break. Kit has been pooping all over the house and has become pretty aggressive. 14 years old, we had some great memories. :) He had a good life.
We also did a little washing of Jackson's cloth diapers, and some family tv time. It was a great day.
Came home, boys went to bed and I scrubbed the bathroom top to bottom.  Now I'm going to take a candle-lit bubble bath in my clean bathtub, maybe watch some tv and go to bed! Night!!

Hotel Front Desk Rants

(Found this gem from my hotel front desk days)

Today is my day off! Yay!! Jackson let me sleep in. :) Today after Trevor gets off work we are going to my parent's house to say goodbye to my childhood cat Kit. He is getting put to sleep soon. :(
While I have some free time here are some hotel rants I made while at work. (I may edit them a little, hehe):

February 26th, 2011
I'M GOING TO FREAK OUT! THESE DUDES WONT FREAKING LEAVE! They have been here for 2 freaking hours. blablablalblablablablabla I'm 2 minutes from calling the cops. They came in acting like they wanted to rent a room. When I told them the price they said "That's too expensive, we are going to have to think about it." They preceded to walk over to the couches in the lobby and sit down. One of them moved over to our "GUEST" computer and started using it. Mind you, this night is busy for me. I'm checking in guests, running upstairs to fix televisions and answering the phones. I asked them again if they were going to get a room or not. "No, I don't think so." So I tell them they are going to have to leave. "Our ride is on the way."
AN HOUR LATER:
I asked them to leave 4 times. "boohoo it's too cold" I told them THIS ISN'T THE LIBRARY OUR COMPUTER IS FOR GUESTS ONLY. Then one of them asks to use the bathroom in the pool. OK THEN LEAVE AFTER. I see him on the camera over hitting on girls in the hot tub. So I tell his friend I'M CALLING THE COPS RIGHT NOW YOUR FRIEND IS FREAKING HITTING ON GIRLS IN THE POOL. He ran sooo fast and got his friend and they left.  :D
They were sitting there talking about "booty" and shapes of females and nasty stuff and other guests were hearing it and making faces. And then I was on the phone with someone making an actual reservation and they kept coming up while i was on the phone trying to talk to me.
Every once in a while people like this wander in, I need to learn to use calling the police sooner on in the evening so I don't have to deal with them. I need to stop being such a nice person in certain circumstances.

Next

I just had a guy check out 5 days early tonight because there were teenagers in the pool wearing bikinis!! LOL they were church girls a conformation group from a church. (swimsuits were in no way slutty). I think he has been here a month....i'm not lying when I say he is carrying EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink out. He called down twice saying that the girls were "half naked" and he couldn't stay here anymore because of it.

This guy yelled at me to the point of me in tears. All of this is my fault, I dont know how to do my job, he wants his money back, ALL of it RIGHT NOW! Oh, and he wants to talk to the manager. (His money is not in the drawer bc we are not allowed to have that much money at one time. He payed until next friday) He thinks that by talking to my manager the money will appear tonight. NO IT WONT! I told him over and over that he can't get his money until tomorrow when the manager is here. I'm sorry but he can't. He told me he wasnt going anywhere until I gave him his money. He thinks I STOLE his money, he doesn't believe me when I say it's not here. This is a hassle to him. YOU STANDING IN FRONT OF ME IS A HASSLE TO ME!! You making a scene and screaming about your money is a hassle. It's embarrassing, not just for you but for me.

I'm so sorry that you decided to check out with no notice a week early. "That's your fault" he says. "You know that this isn't my fault, it's yours. I want to talk to your manager right now and I'm not leaving. THIS IS YOUR FAULT! What is your job anyway?" Everything that happened was my fault. He isn't leaving the house keepers a tip and that is MY fault. "Tell the housekeepers it's your fault"
I'm sorry that we have a pool and people wear swimsuits. I'm sorry that they had to pass your room to get to the pool , front desk ect. WTF WERE YOU DOING? Peeping through the peephole?! What do you want everyone to wear full body armor in the pool?
AH! I loove my job, but tonight is NOT a good night.

Switching to cloth diapers

My husband and I have decided to switch to cloth diapers for our little Jackson. I talked to over 7 different mommas who use cloth on their little ones and love it! We went ahead and ordered prefolds and diaper covers! They came in the mail yesterday!
The cloth is so very soft, and easy to put on. Not only are cloth diapers better for the environment, they are better for our wallets too! I'm very happy with our choice. Here are some pictures of little Jackson in his new diapers:

Full-time Mom and Full-time job

Right now I work full-time as a hotel front desk clerk. I know a lot of moms work full time as well, I'm not complaining. I really like my job. I get to meet new people everyday! I also deal with a lot of crabby and angry people. It's also nice to get out of the house sometimes by myself, even if it is to go to work. I also feel a sense of accomplishment everyday.
If I could have one wish it would be not to work as much, and to spend more time with my family. Since Jackson was born Trevor and I have worked opposite schedules to keep him out of daycare. Trevor works mornings at a company who delivers meat to all the nicer grocery stores in the area. He gets home and I jump in the car and take off for work. I don't get off until 11pm, and by that time Trevor and Jackson are asleep. We don't really have any days off together, so it's been hard finding time to spend as a family or alone as a couple. We are doing the best we can though and doing pretty well!
This winter has been pretty hard on us. We can't take Jackson outside to play, or to the park. We love to hang out outdoors. I know we are from this climate (laugh out loud) but for some reason this winter is seeming to last forever. I cannot wait until the snow melts, the birds chirp and I can see green grass!!

Introducing the main men of my life!

My Husband

We met when we were sixteen on a blind date setup by our best friends. I believe it was a pizza date at his house and a movie afterwards. We went on a few dates over the course of a couple months, and then stopped talking.
In 2008 I added him curiously on facebook and that is where our story continues. We clicked and soon discovered that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Not long after that we learned that I was expecting a baby!
September 2009 we walked down the aisle and said our vows. My husband is the most amazing person I have ever met and I am happy to call him my bestfriend!

Our Son

Jackson Alexander was born on February 5, 2010. The 2nd most wonderful day of my life (our wedding was the 1st). It was a day that will remain forever in my heart. Coming into his world at eight pounds even and forever changing my life for the better.
This past year has been the most wonderful, beautiful and exciting year of my life. It wasn't always easy! I'm not going to lie, some days I just wanted to lay down and cry. But we made it, all three of us. I wouldn't change my life for the world.
Jackson is now a very active one year old. He isn't walking yet, but can crawl faster then any baby I've ever seen. He has 4 teeth (2 front teeth and 2 lower teeth). He loves to dance, listen to music, talk up a storm, play with his toys, watch Elmo, and be around people. He is a very social guy! So far he has been an easy baby. He is all smiles unless he is tired, hungry or sick. We love our little man!

Those are the two men in my life. This blog will be my story of the journey we are on. The journey of family, love, and our life. The story of being a mother and a wife.
